Airsoft News: PNP Reiterates Gun Ban Includes Airsoft Guns

The chief of the Metro Manila police reminded the public that airsoft guns or gun replicas have been included in the election period’s gun ban.

Director Roberto Rosales, chief of the The National Capital Region Police Office, urged airsoft gun owners and enthusiasts, in a statement, to refrain from carrying their guns so as not to violate Commission on Elections Resolution 8714, which included airsoft guns and gun replicas in the list of items covered by the gun ban.

He advised them to just leave their guns in places where they practice or play their hobby.

He said two men identified as Tristan Castro and Jonas Eslao were nabbed on Sunday morning for carrying a .45 caliber airsoft pistol and a gun replica at the checkpoint in Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

Earlier in the day, the NCRPO reported that three policemen, a member of the Philippine Navy and a government official were among the 11 people arrested in the first few hours of the implementation of the total gun ban on Sunday, the National Capital Regional Police Office said.

PO1 Aldrin Almanzan, SPO1 William Ronquillo, Navy's S1BM Michael Basahan, who all wore civilian clothes but were carrying their service firearms were arrested at a checkpoint put up in Las Piñas City, NCRPO spokesperson Rommel Miranda said.

Another policeman PO1 Dennis Quinto and Lawyer Tecson John Lim, the provincial administrator of Quirino province were also held on Sunday in Quezon City and Manila respectively.

“We won't spare our own men in this campaign. So, all those who plan to violate the (gun ban) must think twice,” Miranda said.

The NCRPO has set up 70 checkpoints in Metro Manila as the nationwide gun ban took effect ahead of the May 2010 elections. During an inspection, Miranda said Rosales reminded the police personnel manning the checkpoints to be courteous and respect human rights of the motorists and the public.

Meanwhile, Rosales also appealed to election candidates to file their application for Temporary Security Detail (TSD) at the Joint Security Control Center soon to allow them to employ security personnel with a legally issued firearm.

As of Sunday afternoon, 26 applications had been approved and 131 applications were still pending for approval.

Airsoft News: Airsoft rifle looks real; Port Angeles neighbors alarmed

PORT ANGELES -- A Port Angeles man unintentionally caused a scare by playing with a fake rifle while with a group of friends near an apartment building Thursday.

Five Port Angeles police units blocked the apartments near the intersection of C Street and Lauridsen Boulevard after a 9-1-1 caller reported a man or a group of people brandishing a "rifle of sorts" at the back of the apartments, Deputy Chief of Police Brian Smith said.

"Based on the initial information, it appeared to be something that looked like a semiautomatic rifle," Smith said.

After surrounding the building, police talked with the men, who were all adults.

No one was cited.

"It was a very realistic duplication of an SKS rifle," Smith said.

The Airsoft replica had a 30-round magazine -- identical to the look-alikes police use for training. The gun was heavy and lifelike with sturdy metal and a wooden stock.

"It was an extremely realistic semiautomatic rifle that any reasonable person would think was a functioning weapon," Smith said.

Fake guns typically have orange caps that distinguish them from a live weapon. This gun did not have an orange cap.

It's not illegal to have a replica gun, but it is illegal to point or brandish one in a threatening manner, Smith said.

"It's not a crime if it's not alarming people," he said.

Smith said the people playing with the gun "didn't have a lot of situational awareness."

"We spent some time talking to them," Smith said.

Airsoft News: Sackett Shows Council Airsoft Guns

Sonoma Police Chief Bret Sackett brought his guns to town Wednesday night or, to be precise, he brought them to the City Council meeting, a few steps from his office at the police station, and passed them around the room.

Sackett had his guns to make a point, albeit not like Billy Joe, the tragic figure in the famous Johnny Cash song who defies his mother, brings his guns to town and is shot dead in a bar. Sackett was there at the request of Councilmember Joanne Sanders who read a recent news story about the police department's intention to crack down on simulated guns. The chief's guns included a 9 mm Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine gun and two .40 caliber, Model 23 Glock semi-automatic pistols, the gun chosen by the FBI as the bureau's official service weapon.

Sackett said the MP5 was the same assault weapon he used as a member of the Sheriff's Department's SWAT Team, the only difference being that the one circulating through the audience fired plastic "AirSoft" BBs instead of bullets. And of the two Glocks he held up to display, one was an AirSoft pistol and one was his own, unloaded, service pistol. The two looked identical, the AirSoft version even having a functional slide and clip release like the real thing.

Sacket told the council that in one survey of law enforcement officers, 14 out of 40 failed to recognize under close examination that an AirSoft gun wasn't the real thing.

Their close resemblance to real weapons poses a clear dilemma for law enforcement officers who have encountered AirSoft weapons on the street and, in the case of a Florida student, responded with deadly consequences. That young man was brandishing an AirSoft gun with the mandatory orange tip painted black and was shot and killed by police.

In Sonoma in November, police arrested an El Verano man in a fast food restaurant who brandished an AirSoft gun at a customer, demanding food.

Typical muzzle velocities for AirSoft pistols can exceed 450 feet a second, approaching or even exceeding the speed of real small-caliber ammunition like the .22 short pistol cartridge.

Sackett shared a quote from a children's center in Dayton, Ohio, that children have been treated with AirSoft BBs "in the lung, liver, heart, brain and eye."

He explained that a number of state and city laws forbid the discharge of the guns inside city limits within 500 feet of a home, and that even brandishing one of the guns in a threatening manner is a misdemeanor punishable with a jail term of not less than 30 days.

The STAG-15 series from ECHO 1 more accurately represents the modern AR type rifle with updated matte black finished receivers which replaced the grey receivers of the older AR rifles. Airsoft News: Store Aims For Airsoft Crowd

David Greene was first introduced to airsoft guns – they shoot little plastic pellets that police use in training – while he was with the Army infantry in Korea in 1995.

The idea to open a Frankfort airsoft gun and supply store popped into his head earlier this year.

That was after a teammate on his airsoft team (Frankfort Elite Airsoft Regiment, or FEAR) needed a new gun just before a competition. Nothing was available locally.

Greene, a 38 year-old civilian contractor with the National Guard, and his friends drove to an airsoft store in Cincinnati – the closest – and Greene came back impressed.

He and his wife, Heather, 40, opened Dave’s Airsoft in October, and Greene says the response on opening day was “fantastic.”

“We had a lot of people coming in,” he said. “We’ve kind of lacked on advertising so far because we’re just starting out, but word of mouth is spreading quickly.

“I’ve had a great response from friends around the surrounding area saying everyone’s been playing, but there wasn’t a store in Central Kentucky until now.”

Greene’s customers include college students, law enforcement officers and current and former military personnel.

Teams form and compete in a way similar to paintball players.

Frankfort Police enlisted the services of FEAR during a hostage training exercise. The airsoft team acted as criminals holding a classroom of students at Frankfort High hostage, and the police swept them out.

“They had to clear out of the high school, secure the hostages and terminate us,” Greene explained.

Airsoft guns were used to simulate firearms, and Greene said the officers seemed interested in using the guns for recreational purposes.

Greene said airsoft can provide low cost training for law enforcement. He plans to contact state police and others to gauge their interest in similar training exercises.

“Police can use airsoft in lieu of firearms,” Greene said, adding that it gives them a realistic and hands-on training method.

For the everyday customer who doesn’t train for hostage situations, Dave’s Airsoft offers some of the lowest prices on guns and equipment. Greene says he prices everything 2 to 3 percent lower than what you would find online.

Prices for rifles range from $139-$305, and handguns go for about $50. Soon they’ll also be selling airsoft guns for younger kids and teenagers at around $50.

Dave’s Airsoft also sells all necessary airsoft equipment, like eye protection.

The advantage of shopping at his store, Greene says, is getting to feel the gun before buying it and not paying shipping and handling.

“There’s no guesswork. You can get your hands on the weapon, feel how durable it is, see how the stitching is on the gear.”

Another key feature is an in-store firing range next to the cash register. Customers can fire a weapon before buying it to see how it performs.

Greene says about 80 percent of his customers use the target range before buying a gun.

“You can look at the gun and hold the gun, but after you fire it, that’s what makes you decide,” he said.

The hardest part of opening the store, Greene said, was finding wholesalers to supply it. Dave’s Airsoft primarily deals with Jag Precision and JG – a sister company.

JG stands for “jing gong” in Chinese, which translates to English as “golden bow.”

Greene says having a wife who’s co-owned her own store helps a lot, since she knows the ins and outs of running a business.

The two make a perfect team, because what she brings in business knowledge, he matches with airsoft knowledge.

“We even each other out,” Greene says.

Originally from Jamestown, N.Y, Greene says he’s at home in Frankfort. He wants the store to succeed, but he doesn’t want to get too big.

“I don’t want to be Walmart or anything, but I’d like to give back and introduce people in the community to it,” he said.

“It’s a lot of fun and it teaches leadership and builds self-confidence. It’s just a great social program where people can meet on an even playing field.”

Guy With Air Guns Pulls Prank, Goes to Jail

Lots of charges have piled up for a La Crosse guy after his Halloween pranking went way too far. Cops say 23 year-old Jordan Seielstad was lurking about his southside neighborhood dressed in black on Saturday night. Apparently tried to rob a couple of kids of their Halloween candy by pointing an AirSoft gun at them. Then pistol whipped another kid and tore a chunk of his lip off before chasing them around town in his car. Cops say they found Seielstad hiding twenty feet up in a tree. He says he was just trying to scare the kids and told them, "Happy Halloween" to let them know all of it was just in fun.

Tokyo Marui was the first company to produce airsoft guns powered solely by electric-motor driven air compressors. This compact air compressing system, in which Tokyo Marui dubbed "Automatic Electric Gun" (AEG) in the year 1992, was implemented in their first battery powered automatic firing replica, the FAMAS F1. Tokyo Marui's original design ushered in a new era of airsoft guns. Instead of using external air systems to power airsoft replicas (see Classic airsoft), the Tokyo Marui AEG concept pioneered the use of self-providing electric powered air power. At Camp Bundela, barely five kilometres from the Indian Army’s Babina firing ranges in Uttar Pradesh, Sergeant Donald Jeik of the US army is enjoying a game of pool with an unlikely partner, an Indian soldier who has just developed fancy for the cue.

The 29-year-old mortar man, assigned to 2nd Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, is one of the 300 American soldiers who have come from Hawaii to take part in Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2009, an annual Indo-US military drill from October 12-29.

More than 1,000 soldiers are taking part in the war games, aimed at promoting cooperation between the two militaries while sharing training, cultural exchanges, and building joint operating skills.

This year’s Yudh Abhyas features 17 Stryker vehicles— the largest deployment of these armoured combat vehicles outside of Iraq and Afghanistan.

On Monday, the two armies showed what they could achieve together as they went about the business of enforcing peace in a fictitious country (called Karera) torn apart by terrorism. Its neighbours were exporting its miseries.

The exercise involved T-90, combat vehicles, anti-tank missiles, US army’s mini UAVs and live firing of Javelin anti-tank guided missiles.

Lieutenant General A S Sekhon, the army’s director general of military operations said India had a lot to learn from the US experience — especially in the field of technology — in Afghanistan and Iraq.

WASHINGTON: The Pentagon's top military officer has conducted secret war games to evaluate the two primary military options that have been put forward by the Pentagon and are being weighed by the Obama Administration as part of a broad-based review of the faltering Afghanistan war, senior military officials said.

The exercise this month, led by Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, examined the likely outcome of inserting 44,000 more soldiers to conduct a full-scale counter-insurgency effort aimed at building a stable government that can control most of Afghanistan. It also examined adding 10,000 to 15,000 more soldiers and marines as part of an approach dubbed ''counter-terrorism plus''.

Both options were drawn from a detailed analysis prepared by General Stanley McChrystal, the senior commander in Afghanistan, and were forwarded to the President, Barack Obama, by the Defence Secretary, Robert Gates.

The Pentagon war games did not formally endorse either course; rather, they tried to gauge how Taliban fighters, the Afghan and Pakistani governments and NATO allies might react to either scenario. Admiral Mullen has discussed its conclusions with senior White House officials involved in discussions over the new strategy.

One of the exercise's assumptions is that an increase of 10,000 to 15,000 troops would not give US commanders the forces they need to take back havens from the Taliban commanders in southern and western Afghanistan, where shadow insurgent governors collect taxes and run court systems based on Islamic law.

The Obama Administration initiated a review of its war strategy late last month after questions emerged about the legitimacy of the Afghan elections on August 20, and a troubling update on the war by General McChrystal.

What was intended to be two or three weeks of intensive White House meetings has stretched on for almost a month.

General McChrystal's analysis has drawn wide support inside the Pentagon. It suggests that 44,000 troops would be needed to drive Taliban forces from populated areas and to hold them until Afghan troops and government officials can take the place of US and NATO forces. The extra troops would allow US commanders to essentially triple the size of the US forces in the south of the country, where the Taliban originated and have their strongest support.

The increase of 10,000 to 15,000 soldiers would give General McChrystal one US advisory brigade of about 5000 to speed the development of Afghan forces and a large number of support forces.

US officials say Mr Obama might settle on a plan but delay announcing it until after a run-off in the Afghan elections, scheduled for November 7.

Suspect thought to be tied to Troy incident, as well

FERNDALE/TROY — A convicted thief suspected of forcibly stealing vehicles from car dealerships in Ferndale and Troy was arrested following a police chase on Woodward Avenue near I-696.

According to Ferndale Police Detective Lt. Bill Wilson, at around 3 p.m. on Oct. 21, Ferndale officers responded to a reported armed robbery at the Fresard Buick-Pontiac-GMC dealership at 21800 Woodward Ave.

The caller indicated that a Fresard salesman had been showing vehicles to the suspect, 21-year-old Bryan Lance of Pontiac, in the dealership lot when Lance put a gun to the salesman’s head and stole a used 2009 Chrysler 300. He then took off down northbound Woodward, Wilson said, and officers from Ferndale, Pleasant Ridge, Berkley and Royal Oak began a high-speed pursuit.

As Detective Brendan Moore noted, “Carjackings are fairly common, but it’s pretty unusual for something like this to happen at a dealership.”

Moments after the theft, a Pleasant Ridge officer conducting a traffic stop on Main Street near 10 Mile Road observed the stolen vehicle pass him as it headed northbound on Main, Wilson said. The officer followed Lance to a nearby parking lot, but as he approached the suspect vehicle, it drove back onto Main and sped away traveling southbound.

Near 10 Mile and Main, Lance crashed head-on into an SUV occupied by a man and woman. The collision did not cause any injuries to the passengers, however.

“(Lance) couldn’t have been going that fast when he made contact with the car,” Moore said. “It appears that he slowed down significantly and tried to swerve around them.”

Lance then exited the stolen car, pulling out a fake handgun as he began to run southbound on Woodward, Wilson said. Witnesses on the road reported that Lance pointed the gun toward them and then toward a Ferndale officer, who was exiting her vehicle and preparing to approach the suspect from the south.

“Our officer had been monitoring the pursuit on the radio,” Moore said. “She was already stopped, and then she saw him running toward her with a gun pointed in her direction.”

The officer responded by firing two shots at Lance, which missed him but caused him to surrender to police. Wilson stressed that no one was hurt in the incident.

After Lance was arrested, the officers discovered that his weapon was not a real gun, but a toy airsoft pistol. “It’s not at all uncommon for criminals to use a toy gun like that,” Moore explained. “Those airsoft guns look very realistic and could absolutely pass for a real handgun.”

The officers also found that Lance was in possession of some fake police gear, including a phony police badge and some toy handcuffs. Moore stated that Ferndale police are still investigating why Lance was in possession of these items.

“That’s the real stumper of the case,” he said. “We have no clue why he had that stuff, and he’s not saying anything about it. It’s entirely possible that he was using them to impersonate a police officer.”

On Oct. 23, Lance was arraigned in Ferndale 43rd District Court on charges of carjacking, armed robbery and fleeing and eluding police. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison. Magistrate Larue Mead set bond at $900,000 cash or surety and scheduled a pre-exam conference for Nov. 5.

Troy police believe that Lance could also be responsible for an Oct. 20 carjacking at the Elder Ford dealership at 777 John R Road.

“We’re looking very closely at him as a possible suspect,” said Troy Police Lt. Michael Lyczkowski. He said that evidence police confiscated from Lance following his arrest in Ferndale may link him to the Elder Ford incident.

Moore confirmed that this was a strong possibility. “There is evidence that leads us to believe he was involved in the crime in Troy,” he said. “He has also been convicted for stealing cars in Troy over the last two years.”

According to reports about the Elder Ford case, the suspect asked to talk to a salesperson about a specific Ford Fusion, a 2010 SEL, for sale in the new car lot.

Police said the man got into the driver’s seat of the Fusion while the salesperson stood outside the vehicle. The man then reportedly pulled a black semi-automatic pistol from the waistband of his pants, pointed it at the salesperson and demanded the keys to the car, Lyczkowski said.

After the salesperson handed over the keys, the man told him to walk away, and then fled the lot in the Fusion, police said. Highland Park police later recovered the Fusion abandoned, but with no visible damage, in that city at around 12:45 a.m. on Oct. 22.

War Game Examines Energy as a Disruptive Technology

Energy as a weapon and an enabler could dominate future battlefields, according to a recent war game that focused on military energy requirements. Participants in the 2009 war game, which had the theme “Future Energy Requirement on the Battlefield,” examined energy produced, packaged and used in novel ways to enable persistence.

The Director of Defense Research and Engineering’s (DDRandE’s) Technical Intelligence Program is briefing the results of its 4th annual future disruptive technology war game to offices within the organization and other participants. This year’s game, which took place in June at the National Defense University, focused on the effects that a breakthrough energy technology could have on U.S. warfighting capability and science and technology investment. The exercise did not limit participants to any specific ideas such as traditional or alternative fuels or near- or long-term solutions, but rather sought to examine any possibility and its ramifications.

Technologies employed for energy generation, transformation and transport that would or could support high-energy weapons systems on the future conventional battlefield garnered the most attention, according to Capt. Robert Barton, USNR, commander of the DDR&E Joint Reserve Unit, the office responsible for the event.

War game personnel considered the impact of technologies and applications required to enable or disrupt future battlefield operations requiring vast amounts and various forms of energy. The goals of the event were to determine which commercially available technologies—prioritized, if possible—could be used or combined into applications to produce either a capability advantage, or conversely, a disruptive threat; technology or application areas in which potential adversaries would be likely to make investments that would deter or mitigate a U.S. technological advantage; the impact of identified potential threats from a Defense Department perspective and the effectiveness of current capabilities in mitigating the impacts; and the science and technology areas the department should invest in to counter or mitigate those threats.

Col. Dave Robie, USAFR, vice commander of the DDR&E Joint Reserve Unit, explains that the energy focus is important to the military, which currently operates in an unconstrained energy environment. Though the supply can be expensive, U.S. forces never have lacked the resources they need. As the Defense Department moves forward, energy may become more constrained, and leadership will have to make decisions about all types of energy sources, not just fossil fuels.

The final, approved results of the event are not available for public release. They are delivered to leadership and participants who include members of the Defense Department, industry, venture capitalists, academia and other government laboratories and agencies. Those who are briefed can use the information for additional studies. Overall success was judged by the effect that the game results and recommendations have in informing the science and technology planning process and spotlighting a need for future assessment.

The war game supercharges other analyses by completing a great deal of background work and research. Col. Robie explains that the military is preparing to conduct an energy study on the battlefield that will start out at a higher level because of what was accomplished in the war game. The outcome is of interest to several Defense Department organizations and the service branches.

One of the big challenges for the war game each year is determining what will be a disruptive technology. “That’s the trick,” Capt. Barton says, adding that quite often the answer is a convergence of several developing technologies that combine to become a game changer. War game personnel examine what would create a significant impact on U.S. forces if such technologies were available to them or their adversaries.

To help identify the most important technologies, a variety of subject matter experts on different topics gather to assist with the war game. Lt. Cmdr. Mike Richman, USNR, another member of the DDR&E Joint Reserve Unit and the war game co-chair, says that with enough brainpower, diversity and technical expertise, the event feeds itself and results in thought-provoking exercises that help answer what the technologies and capabilities can do in future conflicts.

Capt. Barton emphasizes two key takeaways from the annual war game. Because it is an intellectually unconstrained environment, it yields unique and valuable insight that, along with other factors, inform policy, budget and follow-on deep-dive study efforts. Also, it leverages the nation’s citizen-soldier brain trust coupled with intelligent personnel from other areas to solve difficult military problems. The citizen soldiers involved with the effort bring their civilian life knowledge and contacts to bear in the experiments.

I tried researching the details behind this airsoft manufacturer, the Classic Army Airsoft Gun, they say...the world leading brand in Airsoft. and here's what I found from wikipedia...

Classic Army (Yick Fung International) is a manufacturer of airsoft replicas. The headquarters for this A.E.G. manufacturer is in Hong Kong. They produce automatic electric guns or AEGs. Designed to resemble real firearms, these replicas fire 6mm plastic BBs at safe velocities. Within the airsoft community, Classic Army is often abbreviated as simply "CA."

Airsoft News: Danville High School Principal On Leave After Incident with Airsoft Gun

The principal of Monte Vista High in Danville is on administrative leave while the school district investigates her handling of an Airsoft pistol gun in front of a student.

Rebecca Smith has been on leave since Oct. 8 while the district investigates an incident in which she "handled a gun in an inappropriate manner in the presence of a student," said San Ramon Valley school district spokesman Terry Koehne.

He said the district has determined it was an Airsoft pistol which shoots plastic pellets that generally cannot break the skin. They are available at sporting goods and other stores. The pistols, generally considered a toy, are not powerful enough for hunting.

Sources have told Bay Area News Group that the incident stemmed from actions before a girls volleyball game, when a player had an inflatable toy that resembled a gun. The student was called to the principal's office, which is where the incident with the Airsoft pistol took place.

Smith could not be reached for comment. Her attorney, Robert Bezemik, of Oakland, issued a statement Wednesday saying he could not say much about the incident involving the 35-year district employee.

"Because this involves the privacy interests of several participants, unfortunately we cannot publicly discuss any specifics at this time," he said. "Hopefully, common sense will prevail once she receives a fair and impartial opportunity to present her side of the story."

Koehne said the Advertisement district is not releasing details of the incident, but he said it happened on campus. He said the district received an anonymous tip about the incident Oct. 7, adding that Smith's leave is a routine procedure while the district investigates. He did not know how long the investigation will take.

Koehne said Smith is being paid while on leave. He did not have her exact salary, but he said principals' salaries range from $99,000 to $130,000.

Retired administrator Duff Danilovich has been brought into help run the school. He was a middle school principal and high school assistant principal in the district before his retirement.

School Board President Bill Clarkson said he could not comment, as it would be inappropriate because the case could go before the board. He said trustees have not met about the issue.

While rumors have been circulating about the incident and some parents are upset no official announcement was made, Koehne said the district was limited in what it could say because it is a personnel issue. The district e-mailed an announcement to parents Wednesday after Smith's leave was reported in local media.

Smith could not be reached for comment. She came to the school in 1981, working as an assistant principal before becoming principal in 1996, according to the school's Web site.

Her time at the school has not been without controversy. In 2007, a district audit found that nearly $100,000 raised by recent graduating classes was spent for items not approved by students. The funds were raised by each graduating class during their years at the school, with students determining where the money goes, but administrators instead transferred the cash to other accounts and decided where to spend it. Items purchased included computers, landscaping and rugs.

Once you open the ordinary black box you'll realize there is nothing boring about this gun. The Jing Gong G608 is a great clone of both the TM and CA MK36, MX, & SR36 airsoft rifles. Jing Gong insists you can use any TM, SRC, or CA part on this AEG, but we recommend reviewing the various on-line forum posts. We have confirmed that the TM, SRC, and CA airsoft magazines will work in this gun.

The package comes with everything you need to get started: 8.4v 1100maH mini-battery, wall charger, Hi-Cap magazine, a starter supply of BBs, a manual, and a clearing rod. The gun itself weighs in at 6lbs 1oz (Gun, battery, and empty magazine), and is very well-balanced. It is built out of heavy-duty Nylon ABS plastic and has a solid folding stock for CQB situations. The overall body design is tight, with minimal seams, and no wobble. Metal parts include: flash hider, iron sights, selector switch, and charging handle. The battery fits into the foregrip, which is easily removed by pulling out a single metal pin and sliding forward. The foregrip space is pretty tight so you might be limited to a 1400mah battery without the use of an external PEQ box.. We only tested with the included battery. The weapon sports a top and bottom weaver rail for mounting your favorite airsoft gear. Over all, the build, durability and design are pretty close to the higher end TM, SRC, and CA MK36, MX36, and SR36 Airsoft electric guns.

The Jing Gong MK36 G608 comes with a 470-round high-capacity wind-up type airsoft magazine. It's constructed of solid ABS plastic and has the stackable pegs on both sides so you can clip another magazine to it. This is great for quick magazine changes in the heat of battle. The airsoft magazine that comes with this AEG is TM compatible.

The MK36 G608 comes with an adjustable hop-up. The hop-up is set by pulling back the charging handle to expose the hop-up wheel. The hop-up dial has a solid, yet smooth feel to it. From what we've observed the hop-up stays set and is not prone to going out of adjustment due to vibration, use, etc.

On this model Jing Gong uses metal gears and metal bushings (earlier models had plastic bushings). Additional internals include a plastic spring guide and a plastic, vented piston head (for a better O-ring seal). The result is consistent FPS (see G608 performance testing below). The rest of the internals are identical to the TM MK36 and SRC SR36 model. The wiring is 16 gauge.

G608 AIRSOFT PERFORMANCE
(Note: all of our performance testing was done with TSD .2g BBs) - The Jing Gong MK36 is louder than most, but we prefer that because it tends to intimidate on the skirmish field. We ran this gun through the Guarder 2000 Chrono. How did it do? FPS ranged from 350 to 365 feet per second (FPS), and rate of fire was around 900 rounds per minute. Accuracy is decent out to about 125 feet, and the hop up holds a flat trajectory when set properly. We were easily able to hit a soda can at 125-150 feet. Use of .23g or .25g BBs may increase the accuracy of this airsoft gun. We shot four full magazines through the G608, varying the Semi and Full-Auto setting. We only had one gearbox lock up, which was easily remedied by putting the gun on full-Auto and firing off a few rounds to line the gears back up. Overall handling is a dream. It's no wonder the Airsoft MK36 design is enjoying so much popularity these days. We can't wait to take it out on the skirmish field!

Airsoft News: Youth gun violence in King County

I wholeheartedly agreed with Beth Colgan’s perspective in her guest commentary in The Seattle Times, “Community intervention effective at dealing with kids packing heat” [Opinion, Oct. 2].

In May 2009 a 12-year-old and 14-year-old were arrested for firing Airsoft guns, shown above, on a Seattle school bus. Incidents like these, of carrying dangerous weapons on school property, are making city leaders rethink the way they deal with youth gun violence.

She makes an excellent point in her critique of King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg’s call for a new state law to mandate jail time for juveniles who are in possession of guns. Colgan states these youth would be better served if judges would order them to participate in proven community-based programs designed to give them the therapeutic, and culturally specific services they need to destroy their misguided fixation on carrying around firearms.

Time and time again, research-based programs have shown that community-based intervention and prevention projects more effectively serve violent-prone youth than does sending them to state-run detention centers. Plus these programs are far less expensive to operate than youth jails.

Although Colgan is correct in pointing out that fewer than a fraction of 1 percent of Washington youth have been adjudicated for gun possession, Satterberg is right to ring the alarm bell regarding the devastation caused by those few youth who have wantonly maimed and killed people recently in King County.

As the chair of the Metropolitan King County Council budget committee, I believe we must focus our attention on finding a way to identify, improve and better utilize programs that can provide help to these youth in our community.

I do not think the facts currently warrant passing a state law incarcerating all youth found guilty of being in possession of a gun.

Airsoft News: Man threatens residents with Airsoft gun in downtown Milwaukie

St. John’s Catholic School was locked down Friday and people fled an area of downtown Milwaukie when a 15-year-old reportedly began threatening other residents with what appeared to be a firearm.

According to Milwaukie Police Department spokesman Officer Kevin Krebs, police were called to the intersection of 25th and Washington streets in downtown Milwaukie around 12:15 p.m. on Friday after citizens wrestled the threatening suspect to the ground, disarmed him and he fled.

“It was reported that some citizens had wrestled this subject to the ground, had taken the gun from him and he was last seen running from the area,” Krebs said. “Officers arrived on the scene and after a brief foot pursuit caught up with the subject. He was taken into custody without incident.”

Krebs said what witnesses thought was a gun was actually an Airsoft gun. Airsoft guns are typically highly detailed replicas of actual guns but which shoot non-metallic pellets. The pellets velocity ranges from 100 feet per second to 850 feet per second.

“It’s becoming an increasing problem,” Krebs said. “The Airsoft guns, however harmless they may be, they have an appearance that mimics and models real guns. And obviously without very close examination, you cannot tell the diff between an Airsoft gun and a real gun … Here we have an individual on the corner, kiddy corner to two schools, the potential obviously is grave … The results could have been disastrous.”

Krebs said the suspect was taken into custody and was being questioned Friday. He said charges will likely be filed, and that the charges for threatening someone with an Airsoft gun are the same as those for threatening someone with a lethal firearm.

* Medic can revive a teammate, by giving the first aid flag to the injured teammate. Teammate must stay on the area where he or she got hit.

* Used First aid flag can not be applied to another player
* If MEDIC is hit, he or she can not be revived.

OBJECTIVE COMPLETION OR GAME IS OVER WHEN:
* All opponents are eliminated (flag must be crossed to get 20pts.)
* The Team who crossed the flag wins.
** a player got hit while in the process of securing the flag, the flag must stay where the player got killed.
* When 5 minutes game time lapse. Team with the most number of points… wins.

Point System method:

Airsoft News: Man Stabbed By 12-Year-Old is Recovering

WESTLAKE -- Westlake Police say a man stabbed in the chest Friday evening will spend about a week in the hospital but should make a full recovery.

As juvenile charges of felonious assault were filed against the unidentified 12-year-old accused of the attack, the victim was upgraded to stable condition at St. John WestShore Hospital.

"He's improving," said Westlake Police Lt. Ray Arcuri of the victim, who is 40 years old and whose name is not being released. "We're all encouraged."

The man was stabbed after he had chased down and detained the boy who had been firing an AirSoft pistol at other youngsters riding their bikes on a wooded trail near the intersection of Center Ridge Road and Dover Center.

He managed to make his way out of the woods and to the back door of the Rite Aid drugstore on that corner.

The victim was on his way to the Westlake High School Homecoming game with his son when he saw two boys firing the AirSoft guns and felt a couple pellets whiz by his head.

One of the boys ran away when the man approached, but the 12-year-old was stopped. This is how the victim, in his own 911 call to Westlake Police, described what happened.

"He's a young kid. He was shooting an AirSoft gun at the boys down here at the trail," the man said, in the 911 call. "I chased him. I took his gun away."

"He gave the wrong phone number three times, then he just reached in and grabbed a knife and stabbed me right in the heart," the victim said.

The man said he offered his cell phone to the 12-year-old and asked him to call his parents and tell them what he had been up to.

After the third unsuccessful call, the man says the boy suddenly turned on him.

"I'm bleeding pretty bad here, guys," the victim told the 911 dispatcher, who asked if he'd been stabbed in the chest area.

"Yeah, right in the chest," the victim replied.

"Did you see what kind of knife he had?" asked the dispatcher, to which the victim said, "No, he stuck it back in his pocket."

Police say that after the boy ran away, he threw the knife in the woods. Police took him and several searchers back to the area on Saturday but they were not able to find the weapon.

They did seize the boy's AirSoft gun and his bicycle. The second boy who had been with him was not held by police.

Lt. Arcuri says they have no motive for the stabbing.

"Crime is everywhere, violence is everywhere, but for a 12-year-old to go to this extreme measure is highly unusual," he told WKYC.

Arcuri said the two boys with the AirSoft guns may have been taking shots at other youngsters with whom they'd had a prior argument.

Arcuri said the boy, a seventh grader at Westlake Middle School, may have been carrying the knife for "protection."

There was a time when firearms were outlawed in certain countries, but this didn’t stop people from being curious about them. Rather than allowing people to get in trouble for just touching a weapon of this nature, there was a company that monopolized on it. One of these companies was Tokyo Marui with its line of Airsoft guns. These are weapons that resemble their real life counterparts in nearly every way and down to the finest detail, but rather than firing a deadly bullet they fire a non-lethal BB. Since the first Airsoft gun was made, they have risen in popularity, continuing today, being sold in many different countries by many different companies.

One of the most sought after Airsoft guns made by Tokyo Marui is the FN P90. This is a very powerful and slick looking rifle, which is not only easy to use, it is also ideal for both left and right handed individuals, seeing as the cocking handle can be found on both sides of the firearm. This is a weapon that was originally designed for personnel that could not ideally use long arms. Such people may be tank crews or vehicle drivers. If you think about it a tank crew can’t just pop out of the hatch holding an M-16.

Aside from it being powerful and accurate, it also looks great. Though it does have a cocking lever this is purely aesthetic; seeing how the P90 airsoft gun uses an 8.4v battery. Another feature that you will want to pay mind to is the rail on the side that is for mounting a light or laser sight. The light will be great if you are engaging in an Airsoft war of some sort under the cover of night and need to see your way through a dark forest. This could also of course draw others to you, so you need to be careful about what exactly you mount on your P90.

Users have reported that the Iron Sights work reasonably well and the BBs in the magazines don’t rattle when you walk around. Not only will you be able to shoot extremely accurately, people will have a hard time finding you so long as you employ other stealth tactics, and don’t rely on the silent nature of the weapon that you carry.

Now for the big question: How does it hold up? Well, as far as we can tell the P90 airsoft gun from Marui is extremely durable and you won’t have to worry about it falling apart any time soon. Naturally you shouldn’t take it apart unless you have to, but it’s a decent product nonetheless. You can enjoy several hours of Airsoft games for years to come without worrying about the state of your firearm.

Before you rush out and buy this however, you need to consider whether or not the P90 airsoft gun is in fact for you, since it not a cheap airsoft gun. There are some who would say that it is an uncomfortable gun to hold, and then there are those that would say it is perfect. I would recommend that you find someone who has one, or ask if you can try it out at a store before you commit to buying one. After all, you’re going to be stuck with this weapon for a while, might as well ensure that you like it!

Police Chief David Ulmen says it was a scary moment when police recovered the gun because it is a close replica to the assault rifle he carries on duty.David Ulmen says It's the idea of bringing something like this to school, taking it out of the car, and shooting these Airsoft pellets at other people.

We have to treat these calls as serious, genuine calls."No one was hurt in the incident and no charges have been filed yet pending an investigation. A robber shot a man in the face with what police believe was an "airsoft" gun and stole his wallet Wednesday, authorities said.

The crime occurred about 2 p.m. in the 1700 block of Strathmore Avenue, San Gabriel police Lt. Dan Russo said.

The victim, an Asian man in his 30s, was approached by robber armed with an "airsoft"-style gun, the lieutenant said, which is a replica gun shooting 6mm plastic BB's.

They typically shoot their plastic projectiles at several hundred feet per second.

The man appeared to suffer a small laceration and a welt to his face, Russo said.

He was taken to an area hospital for examination.

The robber was described as a white man in hiss 20s, of thin build, with short hair, Russo said.

No car was seen in connection with the robbery, he added.

Airsoft News: Simi Considers Allowing Indoor Paint-ball and Airsoft Games

The Simi Valley City Council on Monday directed staff to look into amending the city’s municipal code to make it legal for airsoft, paint ball, and other games using firearms to be played indoors.

Under current city code, firearms are only allowed for target practice at indoor shooting ranges. No firearms can be used outdoors.

Airsoft and paint-ball guns are defined in the code as firearms because the guns use air, gas, spring-action or an electronically powered gearbox mechanism to drive a projectile.

In airsoft and paint-ball games, players use nonlethal guns to shoot plastic pellets or plastic paint balls at opponents. Since airsoft and paintball involves shooting at other players, it is not allowed under current city code.

City officials said airsoft and paint-ball guns were not envisioned when the city’s regulations for firearms were established in 1981. They have since become a popular entertainment activity at facilities in the city.

The amendments to the code would allow airsoft and paint-ball gaming indoors with a conditional use permit.

Douglas Mitchell of True Edge, which sells airsoft guns and products in the Conejo Valley, said he is in favor of requiring airsoft and paint-ball gaming indoors because it offers a safer, more controlled environment.

Councilman Glen Becerra said he had concerns with amending the code because children would be banned from playing outside with toys such as Nerf dart guns, even if they have adult supervision. City staff will be exploring options regarding outdoor use of these toys.

City staff is also looking into easing the permit application process so organizations can have bow and arrow target range shooting without seeking council approval.

JANESVILLE — Two Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton High School students have been suspended after an incident outside the school building Monday morning.

At 8:15 a.m., Janesville Police responded to a report of two school-aged males pointing a rifle at people passing by.

According to Police Chief David Ulmen, using the information from that call, police identified the two males and recovered an Airsoft rifle that resembled an AR15 (sample image below).

An Airsoft gun is a highly detailed firearm replica made for recreational use and made to fire plastic pellets.

Ulmen said no charges have been filed yet, but added that the case has been sent to the County Attorney’s Office for review for any possible criminal charges.

Superintendent Dick Orcutt said the district has a set of fairly strict guild lines it has to follow in cases like this.

Orcutt added that the students will remain suspended until a full determination on any additional punishment is made.

6 Steps on How to Make Your Airsoft Gun Shoot Faster, Farther, And Harder

Want to give yourself an advantage while playing airsoft? Well why pay for expensive upgrades or a better gun when you can take these simple steps. Just follow these instructions.

Step 1: The most important thing in airsoft is accuracy. It doesn't matter if you're shooting long and hard if you don't hit what you're aiming at. So first you'll want to buy some decent BBs. You probably paid a lot for your airsoft gun so spend the extra $2 on high polished, seamless BBs. Most automatics require high polished ones anyway otherwise they run a high risk of jamming. If they're seamless they're perfectly round with no holes or seams or anything. Being Seamless and high polished will make them not rub on your barrel as much on the way out which causes them to fly crooked and curve incorrectly. But WAY more important is that the BBs are balanced evenly on the inside. Ones that are either filled or stamped together with a seam are off balance and that can cut your accurate range in half! The high polished BBs instead of regular seamless ones just have smoother edges that will make it slide through your barrel faster with less friction to slow them down. Also as long as your gun shoots at about 240 FPS or faster, use .20 gram BBs unless otherwise specified in the manual or on the box. .12s curve too quickly in the air with very little wind.

Step 2: Now that you're firing ammo that's actually good, you may need to adjust the hop up. Usually it's adjusted well from the factory but it's worth playing with. Basically just find some cardboard or styrofoam or whatever and draw a tiny black dot on it about 1/4 inch wide. Then stand about 50 feet from it with your gun. If it's a pistol maybe move a little closer and some high powered rifles may need to fire from farther away. Put the gun in single shot mode if it's an automatic and aim directly at the dot you drew and fire a shot then wait and fire again until you've shot like 3-5 shots. Make sure you re-aim it perfectly in between shots, especially if the gun kicks back.

Step 3: If all your shots missed the dot in 3 different directions then it's likely your airsoft gun just isn’t very accurate or you’re still using low quality, unbalanced BBs. If you were away from the black dot but in the same direction like all three shots made holes above the black dot, you were either aiming incorrectly or you'll need to adjust the hop up one way or another. The best way to tell which is the case is to try to watch the BBs while they're flying on the way to the target. If they go straight, you're good. If they curve as they fly, that's what's causing the inconsistency. If you can't tell, make sure your scope or other aiming device isn’t crooked though and that you’re not making any aiming mistakes. If you know it’s the gun's hop up causing the problem though, most have a slider for hop up adjustment so just pick a direction and redo the test and if it gets closer to the dot, keep moving it until you hit right around the dot without a lot of the BBs curving way off path.

Step 4: An alternate way of adjusting your airsoft gun's hop up is to purchase some .20 gram, high polish, seamless, glow in the dark BBs. Don't get the .12's, they don't hold enough light for long enough. First wait until it’s dark outside then head to a wide open space like a field. If you have an open magazine that exposes the spring and the BBs, take out the magazine and shine a bright flashlight as close as possible up and down the row of BBs to glow them up then quickly load the magazine back into the gun and fire them level with the ground as if you were aiming at a person. Watch the glowing BBs carefully to see about how far they go before they curve and fly in a completely different direction. Adjust the hop up lower and lower until the BB starts to drop down instead of curving off in a crazy direction. If you can’t get your gun to do that, as not all will be capable of it, just adjust it until it curves as far out as possible. One of my airsoft pistols straight from the factory only got about 30 feet before curving at a severe angle. I could almost fire around a corner with the thing it was so sharp. But after adjusting it, it remained straight out to a little over 60 feet. Also, if you switch the weight of your ammo from .20g to .25g for instance, you’ll definitely have to re-adjust your hop up.

Step 5: So now that your airsoft gun is properly adjusted and firing good BBs for optimum accuracy and speed, you should probably take the one extra step and get some silicone airsoft gun lube. You just spray it down the barrel and it lubricates it with a thin layer of silicone so that passing BBs have way less friction. Technically you should do this before adjusting your hop up but it shouldn't affect it too much. Plastic sliding against not very well polished metal is a friction nightmare so you can seriously add around 30+ FPS to an airsoft gun by lubing the barrel. Do use airsoft gun lubricant, not just any hardware store silicone lubricant because it might have additives that will damage many of the internal parts. They almost all contain propane distillates that will dissolve plastic and turn it white and you don't want that happening to your gun. Once you've done this, the BBs will come out straighter and much faster because they cruised past any microscopic bumps on the inside of the barrel. One coating should last hours but do reapply it if your guns have been sitting for weeks since the last time you applied it.

Step 6: And finally, you can upgrade springs but this is risky and not always very effective. On all airsoft guns with springs, it can wear out the parts like the air chamber where the piston moves because it’s not used to a higher pressure. On manual spring guns, it can wear out other parts like the slide because of the higher force required to pull it back. On automatics it can cause a lower rate of fire and will definitely wear out the motor faster because it has to work harder to pull back the spring. In some cases the whole thing won’t be able to function with the new, harder to pull back spring. Usually companies put the highest powered spring they can in for the motor's power rating to get the highest FPS without overloading the motor so any thicker, tougher springs may break the motor. Also just taking apart some airsoft guns risks breaking certain parts of them. So in general, I wouldn’t recommend upgrading the springs unless you’re a real risk taker.

Airsoft Gun History

The history of "airsoft" originated in Japan during the mid-1970s, mainly because it was illegal to own firearms by private individuals. The first airsoft guns available were spring-powered replicas of firearms that fired 6mm, plastic pellets or BBs. The gun then spread to China, Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan and the Philippines and became very popular chiefly because of firearm restrictions in these countries.

The first airsoft guns were those air driven pellet guns, cap-type guns and spring driven pellet guns. The early Japanese air driven pellet guns were based on semi-automatic pistols. They were spring powered. The plastic pellet was propelled by air when the spring piston was released. In the cap-type guns, powerful an explosive cap was used to make the sound of gunfire and to eject the spent cartridge. In spring driven pellet guns, a spring was used to propel the pellet held between two small locks and released when the gun was fired.

Mattel, the famous American toy company had already marketed a product called “Shootin Shells” way back in the 1950s. These guns were identical to the spring driven pellet guns and had Stik-M-Caps that explode to emulate the sound of gunfire. In the 1980s, Daisy BB Gun Company manufactured spring gun models called Replisoft and Soft Air shot at each other by opposing players.

The popularity of airsoft guns in the United States and Europe began in the mid-1990s. There is continued growing interest in the west. In 2003, Daisy started manufacturing and marketing airsoft guns once again in the United States. “Powerstrike” is the brand name used by the company. Other manufacturers are following in Daisy’s footsteps and a host of different models have entered the United States airsoft gun market.

Basically, this HK416 is an improvement over the famous American M4/M16 by using a proprietary gas system derived from the HK G36, replacing the direct impingement gas system used by the standard M4/M16. This result is more reliable and less maintenance by the deduction in heat and fouling of the volt and also creating less stress for important components. It was initially made as a drop in kit for existing AR based weapons, though eventually HK made it a standalone. It has a free float for end equipped all four sides with MIL-STD Picatinny rails. It uses HK based front and rear sights, is compatible with STANAG M4/M16 based magazines, as well as most parts made for the AR variants.

First Impressions

The box is a nice box with the picture of the gun and the crest thing that says “Golden Eagle”. The gun was pretty hefty. The front rails are metal and the body/stock is plastic. Upon taking it out of the box, I noticed the rails were loose, which was fixed with a little tape between the bolts that holds it in the fore grip. The gun is pretty front heavy although adding the battery helps the balance. It is mostly made of plastic, but metal parts are abundant. Little pieces of Styrofoam were sticking a bit on the rails from the packaging but it is easily taking off.

External Build

The body is black, but the first edition model with the incorrect angled magwell is in a grey finish. I believe the first runs of even Echo 1 “614”’s will be grey as well. There are seam line between the body it isn’t too noticeable. The paint is also easily chipped off in the metal areas but it is easily taken off.

Metal Parts

Entire fore grip, rails, bolt cover, dust cover, charging handle, front and rear sights, flash hider, bolt release (which the manual says it supposedly holds back and releases the fake bolt cover but it doesn’t ) mag release, front and rear sling mouths, lower trigger guard and trigger.

The HK style grips fits around my hands pretty good, and even better with gloves. My middle finger starts to hurt after awhile and I wish it was made of rubber because the grip is a bit too wide towards the trigger. The bottom plate is heat sink type, with a motor adjustment screw in the middle and two Philips head screw for removal for the plate to access the motor.

The Stock feels cheap and hollow which it is for the space for the batteries. It does not wobble, at least. I suggest purchasing a better quality stock. Why? The batteries are super tight fit, but taking off the plastic piece of the upper part of the stock well help to alleviate the problem. The end piece (battery cover) snaps in to place in two points and it can be pop out of place if hit the wrong way. I may need to mod it or tape it to get stick better. Recently, the butt pad, which is the battery cover has two tabs that clip on the stock, has already broken so the butt pad has to be taped on. An aftermarket stock is a must because of the extremely tight space for the battery and the cheap battery cover/butt pad, which the attachment tabs, break easily.

The Sights are both metal HK style diopter sight adjustable to four points in the rear for target engagement from different size holes. They are made out of metal and the rear is removed with an Allen key. The front sight is fold down by a button you push up and not adjustable. The rear sight is adjustable for windage only.

Performance Characteristics:

After inserting the battery to the stock (which I would recommend you mod it like I did) and inserting a loaded and winded mag, you’re good to go. Don’t forget eye protection. The range and power is amazing. It easily hit 150 feet and a human target at that. The gearbox is a tad hit loud, but proper shimming is a must since the stress on this gun is hi due to the spring.

The gun report is LOUD. It shoots with defeating crack and the report will give away position. Dry firing it by your ear is not recommended because like I said it is loud.

FPS: Doing the poor man’s chrono, 1.5 inch away, it shreds through both sides of the can and punches a through the bottom middle of the can.

The FPS when chronographer is on average is 410 FPS. It ranged from low 400’s to 418 FPS.

The ROF is decent for the powerful spring, but it isn’t high at all. A 9.6v battery with a proper crane stock will help it immensely.

The internals are a Version 2 type. It is accessed by taking pins down and doing the usual TM style disassembly procedure for M16/ M4 type guns. From what I hear it is a Systema cloned gearbox. Removing the rear pin reveals the top half of the gear box. It is painted Black. I was really impressed and I think JG has outdone them this time. The majority of the high price of this gun is because of the upgraded internals of the gearbox not found on the most medium priced guns.

Airsoft News: Teen cited for shooting at younger boys with Airsoft gun

Madison Police arrested a 16-year-old boy Saturday night for allegedly shooting two younger boys with an Airsoft gun.

One of the victims, a 13-year-old, told the officer the teen shot him in the arm and hand at close range. The second victim, an 11-year-old, says he was shot in the face from about 15-feet away.

Both told officers they did not provoke the suspect and weren't sure they it happened. Police tracked down the teen and arrested him for two counts of Battery.

After dismissal from school on Wednesday afternoon, Goliad Elementary assistant principal Larisa Halbert was told by a student that a 5th grade boy had a gun in his backpack. Ms. Halbert located the boy, confiscated the backpack, and found an Airsoft gun. Airsoft guns shoot small plastic pellets and are extremely popular with kids right now.

ECISD police officers talked with the boy and do not believe he intended to hurt anyone. The boy will be disciplined in accordance with the ECISD Student Code of Conduct. Because Airsoft guns are not considered weapons, there will be no criminal charges related to the incident.

“An insecure government is afraid of an armed citizenry.”

With this as their battle cry, thousands of licensed gun owners are organizing big protest rallies nationwide to express their opposition to the government’s antigun policies and proposed measures that they described as threats to their rights to defend themselves and their families.

Several progun groups are also wondering why the government is rushing antigun measures, citing, among others, the establishment of gun-free zones, the ban on the tucking of gun (inside waistband-outside waistband); the proposed total gun ban during elections; the proposal to pass a law that will make illegal possession of firearm a nonbailable offense; and, the latest, a proposed bill in the House of Representatives, to further limit ownership and use of weapons by peaceful and responsible citizens.

The gun-free zones was reportedly proposed by the antigun group International Action Network on Small Arms, which is very active in lobbying for antigun measures not only in the country but worldwide.

The group is said to be well-funded and well-connected, internationally, the reason government officials are giving in to the group’s pressure.

Airsoft groups have vowed to join the protest as they themselves are affected by antigun policies.

As a prelude to the big rally, Internet forums and social-networking sites were flooded by opposition to these antigun policies and threatened to fight them tooth and nail.
House Bill 6658, authored by Lakas Rep. Pedro Romualdo of Camiguin, seeks stricter gun control that included airsoft guns.

As embodied in the bill, all airsoft guns, and all gas- and spring-operated pistols and rifles will now be classified as real firearms.

Also, the bill provides that if a person is with a group of people when caught with an unlicensed firearm or parts of a gun, with or without the knowledge of his companions, the group will be presumed to be in illegal possession of firearms, and shall be all be charged accordingly.

Penalties were also increased in the proposed bill, such as life imprisonment for illegal possession or manufacture of firearms or light weapons, six to 18 years for illegal possession of ammunition, including blanks, as well as noxious liquid and gas dispensers.
Illegal possession of firearms shall now be considered as a separate and distinct penalty if any other crime is committed in the same act. Thus, a person can be charged twice for the same act and be slapped with two penalties.

“Light weapons” are now defined and prohibited, which include any weapon capable of holding a “drum” magazine, which would include practically all semiautomatic rifles, including rimfire caliber .22s.

During a public hearing of the House Committee on Public Order and Safety, members of the Peaceful and Responsible Owners of Guns (ProGUN) and other stakeholders in the firearm industry were invited to give their views on HB 6658, but were dismayed when the panel did not allow any of those invited to speak.

They were supposed to read the lengthy position paper on the flawed provisions of the bill.
Instead, Lakas-Kampi-CMD Rep. Rodolfo Antonino of Nueva Ecija, committee chairman, allowed a few short comments from members of the panel before voting to approve the measure.

Later, when one of the members of ProGUN called a member of the committee and inquired why the bill was bing railroaded, the legislator purportedly told him: “That’s a Malacañang-backed bill. The Office of the President made direct contact with the congressmen [not him] to approve that bill.”

Earlier, the Association of Firearms and Ammunitions Dealers of the Philippines (Afad), reacting to the recent call of President Arroyo to “look into legislation that can tackle access to firearms and bring their availability under control” while, at the same time, to “look at new, stiffer penalties for anyone using a firearm when committing a crime,” said legislators should distinguish between loose firearms in the hands of criminals and licensed firearms in the hands of peace-loving citizens.

Nereo “Neri” Dionisio, Afad chairman, said a check with the record of the National Police Firearms and Explosives Division will show that only 12 licensed firearms, as against 1,719 unlicensed firearms, were involved in criminal cases last year.

“Further scrutiny into these records should reveal that these 12 cases involve minor infractions of gun laws and not related to murders of journalists and high-profile personalities,” Dionisio said.

I recommend examples of Guns for you to search for are the M4 series, AK47 series, Sniper rifles Bar10 or L96, and Steyr Aug. I've recommended this the best Airsoft guns for all purpose situations based on my experience being a Pro Airsoft player. In the usual markets, it is common to have different brands of these Airsoft guns. These are Jing Gong {JG), Tokyo Marui, Desert eagle, D-boys, AGM, A&K, and Cyma. I recommend using JG's because of its affordability or cheapness, fire power, stability, and durability. A usual JG quality lasts for about 100+ battles before you can see a slight damage in its function or externals, unlike other brands that only last for 20+ battles and you can see lots of quality downfalls.

For ammunition you will use lots of .20g plastic BB's, for this weight is the standard weight used in competitions.

When you finally decided for which gun to buy, you need battle gear for protection. As being hit by an Airsoft gun without protection can hurt you badly. The primary protection you need is for your eyes, you'll need goggles. Second is a face mask to cover your face, a pair of gloves, a helmet, battle outfit like camouflage, Tactical vest, Knee pads, elbow pads, and finally a pair of combat boots.

With your guns selected, next you need to put together a team. Get your friends together and test their shooting abilities. Then give them positions and roles accordingly. For instance, those with better aim will make good snipers, and those with poor aim will be better with shotguns or in CQB. Most will need training in basic field tactics. There are some really good books you can find on warfare tactics. This will cover things like stealth, spy, open field and close quarters tactics.

Have your team members by their own equipment, if possible. That way, they'll take better care of it. And they will be happier with what they bought.

Don't be afraid to get shot when in battle (this is something everyone has to learn), because you will be shot many times regardless of how good you are. You'll get used to it, it doesn't hurt that much.

Make good use of cover and camouflage. It can make the difference in winning and losing.

Using your weapons means something will eventually break. It's not necessary to bring spare parts into the field, but it is good to have backup weapons to anticipate this. No use ruining your day because of a broken part. If you find one particular part seems to break repeatedly, consider replacing it with a better part than the original. If you go online, you will find a number of replacement parts made by third parties, just like auto parts. Spending some time online researching the companies that make these parts will give you a good feel for who provides the best value for the dollar. In other words you may regret that couple of bucks that you saved when your gun jams in the battle.

One more point about maintenance: when guns start to shoot at a lower FPS or velocity, the gun's spring has probably weakened and needs to be replaced. (Of course, make sure the battery is fully charged and all of the gun's internals are lubricated and in good working order.) The best way to check springs is to chrono them, that is, use an instrument to measure the FPS.

Play the Smart SWAT in air soft. Not very many air soft players how importance stealth is when returning from an air soft ware mission. There is nothing like a safe zone in air soft. The situation of the game is a hostile one, and should be treated as such. If you are a sniper, the best shot is taken when the enemy units are returning to their home base. This is two way things anyway. You don't want to be an easy target on your way home, but you want to shoot the patrols as they return.

How about buying a powerful air soft suit set. It may take a while to make, but you'll like it.
Watch your step when in the field. Avoid stepping on dry leaves or twigs. They may break, making some indicting noise! Instead, use the packed dirt or large rocks.
You are not in a pageant, so don't be afraid of getting soiled. Crouch on a leaved low hanging branch or lay on your belly under a bush or with lots of leaves. Let your gun be poked out of the bush.
You need some extra magazines. Also, get a holster for your pistol.
How about a spotter in the battle? He will help you in the firefight, but most importantly in spotting possible targets.
Use gloves to protect yourself from knuckle-shots.
Observe, calculate and shoot. These are the key sniping skills.
Know the enemy's tactics, it'll help you learn how to counter it. Read stuffs about air soft sniping tactic, and use the information there to counter it in the real world. You can actually learn as much or even more from an enemy than you can from a friend.
You need a good cover and an escape route. It is a good characteristic for a sniper never to gets spotted, but it's better to know how not to get caught.

Obstacles
A good airsoft tactic for an obstacle (like a fence or a barrier) is never look over it; look around it. Looking over it exposes more of your body to your opponent, and they are probably expecting you to look over the object. By looking around it, you keep yourself compact and out of sight. The less of your body you expose, the less of a target you present.

Stay Down!
Another common airsoft tactic is to keep yourself on the ground as low as possible. While this seems easy enough, players often get caught up in the adrenalin of the game and start running, which makes them an easy target. Consider that when you are upright you present the biggest, easiest target. Make sure you keep your airsoft gun out of the water or mud when low to the ground.

3-5 Second Buddy Rushes
When assaulting an airsoft objective with a teammate, use the buddy rush method. You may need to practice this a few times before the skirmish to get it right. You and your teammate alternate rushes for 3-5 seconds towards the target, while one of you puts suppressive fire on the objective. Utilize cover and concealment along the attack route, ensuring your rush ends at a spot that will protect you from enemy fire (a tree, log, rock, etc). Use hand signals to indicate when you are ready to move or lay down suppressive fire. Your stream of airsoft ammo will keep you opponent down while your buddy moves forward.

Fool your opponent
If an airsoft player continues to shoot at an enemy, it usually means that they have a good angle on their target. If someone is shooting at you continuously, you need to change position as soon as possible. However, if you have a good position on your opponent, you may want to consider hesitating with your shots, making them think that they're safe. This can draw them out in the open making them an easy target. This is a time tested airsoft tactic

Quick Glances
When you're on the airsoft skirmish field, take quick peeks rather than long gazes, even if you don't see anything or anyone. The goal should always be to minimize your exposure as an airsoft target. Remember that your opponents are practicing their airsoft tactics too, which may mean they're just being patient, waiting for you to expose yourself long enough for them to get off a shot.

While these airsoft tactics employ basic and good common sense, they can easily be forgotten when you have your mind on your objective and forget to exercise patience on the field. NORTH HAMPTON — Around 1 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2, local police received a call from a resident of the Shel-Al mobile home park indicating two young men were roaming the grounds armed with high-powered rifles and wearing flak jackets.

When officers arrived, one of the two 17-year-olds fled. An officer pursued him in a cruiser and caught up with the subject. Seeing what appeared to be an AR-15 assault rifle, the officer then drew his gun and ordered the man to drop the weapon, which he did. It was determined at that point the rifle was really an airsoft pellet gun and not a deadly assault weapon.

The young man explained he and his friend were shooting at each other with the relatively harmless pellets and were not out to harm anyone. However, police Chief Brian Page said if the young man had swung around and pointed the rifle toward the officer, the incident could have ended in disaster.

"The officer used deadly force by drawing his pistol," Page said. "This could have been a very sobering incident."

Page said he is telling this story to educate parents and youngsters about the dangers of walking around with realistic-looking firearms.

"I don't want to take the fun away from the kids or tell parents not to buy these guns, but don't take them out in the street after dark, and use good judgment," the chief said.

Trinity Airsoft, of Wise, Va., manufactures and sells a range of pellet firearms and combat gear that so closely resemble the real thing that police are having a tough time telling them apart, Page said. Couple this with companies that will decorate real assault weapons in ways that make them look like toys, and law enforcement officials have to consider any weapon potentially dangerous, North Hampton Police Lt. John Scippa said.

"For an officer to respond (to an incident) and have to decide whether the weapon is real or a toy, clearly puts the officer at a disadvantage," Scippa said. "Law enforcement can't discount the dangers here."

Last Sunday's incident is the second toy gun event that has occurred in this town of 4,500 residents.

At about 8:15 p.m. on May 10, an employee at Al's Seafood on Lafayette Road called police about an individual dressed in a dark, hooded sweatshirt behind the store holding a pistol. When employees approached the suspect, he fled into the woods. Restaurant employees called the police and gave officers the suspect's license plate number.

t turned out the suspect was part of a game called assassin being played by Exeter High School's senior class and that he was in North Hampton because one of his "targets" worked at Al's. More importantly, the gun seen turned out to be a toy pistol that had been painted to resemble a real firearm. Page said he was glad things turned out the way they did rather than having an officer confront the subject in the woods and being unable to distinguish the pistol as a toy.

"That would have been tragic for everyone," Scippa said.

The police are not the only ones who could be involved in making a tragic error by failing to determine that a weapon is really a toy. The chief noted many people are now carrying firearms for various reasons. Should one of those people feel they are in danger, they are less qualified to determine the reality of the weapon being pointed at them than a police officer, something that could have tragic consequences.

Page suggested several things parents and youngsters could do to lessen the possibility of a pellet, BB or toy gun being mistaken for the real thing. They include:

* Notifying the police when a realistic-looking non-lethal gun is purchased,
* Notifying neighbors that such a gun is in your household,
* Not using the gun outside the confines of your property, and
* Not using the gun after dark.

The chief also recommended the use of safety glasses and protective gear to prevent self-inflicted injuries.

It seems that many people have trouble deciding whether they want to buy a single shot bolt action airsoft sniper rifle, or an electric (AEG) semi/fully automatic airsoft rifle, such as the popular airsoft M4 Rifle. This sometimes can be a tough decision to make, but it usually boils down to this: what type of airsoft scenarios will you be using the gun for, for the most part? Of course, there is also the price to consider, but generally speaking, the cost of a good airsoft sniper rifle is usually about the same as the cost of a good airsoft M4 rifle, so this really shouldn't be much of a factor.

SIXTEEN teams go for all the marbles when they compete in the championship round of the 4th Gov. gwen Garcia Airsoft Cup slated July 25 and 26 at the Prime Orion Property at the Mandaue North Reclamation Area.

The championships was officially launched yesterday in a press conference held at the Cebu Provincial Capitol. Attending the meeting were Cebuano airsoft enthusiasts headed by Paulo Garcia, the Chief Executive officer of the Governor’s Cup operations and Deo Cerna, the tournament’s chairman and the Airsoft Games Club Incorporated (ASG) president.

Prior to the championships, the tournament already had five legs played at different municipalities of the province of Cebu. These are Balamban, Moalboal, San Remegio and Argao.

After the five legs, 16 teams managed to qualify for the championships. The 16 are the:

For those who are new to airsoft, these guns shoot 6mm round pellets commonly known as "BBs." They travel at speeds much lower than real bullets and although a bit painful when hit by one of these pellets, they cannot kill someone nor cause heavy-bleeding injuries unlike real guns. Even though airsoft is considered a toy gun, safety precautions should still be taken into account when playing with these replicas

Some manufacturers even use real mold of the originals in order to create the look, feel and even weight of their real-steel counterpart. Automatic Electric Guns can only cause welts. It is still painful however when the BB pellets hit the skin, since they travel at high speeds. That is why during "skirmishes," protective gears must be worn to avoid serious injuries, especially around the eyes. Also, thick protective outfits are also recommended to be worn. CQB battles do not need long range where most of the engagements are within 50ft to100ft. With this being said the CQB guns fire at a lower FPS than the normal assault rifles, however since the engagement is so close a person would not want to be using a 400 to 450 Fps velocity.

The most common style of CQB weapon is the MP5 series. These guns range in price and quality from $20 up to $450 on occasion they could run even more. When it comes to out door engagements the weapons of choice are mainly the M16/ M4 series rifles. Of course other good weapons to use in the out door environment would be the M14, and the G36 rifles.

Many people wonder if it would be an advantage to carry a pistol with them, personally I feel that a person is at an advantage to carry a pistol on their body. If you are running low on ammo for your rifle and you need a quick burst of fire to take down your enemy, you do not want to be caught loading in the middle of a firefight. With a pistol this can be an advantage, you could definitely surprise your enemy as he thinks he is going to finish you off, with a burst of 3-5 shots from your pistol.

Airsoft is a game in which participants eliminate opponents by hitting each other with 6mm or 8mm plastic bb bullets fired from a compressed-air gun (or airsoft gun) powered by propane, compressed air, manual spring-action, or an electrically powered gearbox.

Airsoft participants organize meetings at dedicated airsoft battlefields often adapted to provide walls, bunkers, trenches, buildings, towers, and other similar man-made field enhancements to offer realism analogous to real combat environments.

Airsoft games vary greatly in style and composition depending on location, budget, and the quantity of participants but often range from short-term skirmishes, organized scenarios, military simulations, or historical reenactments.

Combat situations on the battlefield often involve the use of common military tactics to achieve the objectives set in each game. Participants typically use varying types of non-lethal weaponry designed as replicas of real firearms, tactical gear, and accessories used by modern military and police organizations.

History
In the 1970s Japan made it illegal to own a firearm, though there was a large interest in them. Because of this interest, manufacturers started to produce realistic looking spring-powered guns. These guns fired several calibers of plastic or rubber BBs, but were eventually standardized into 6 mm and 8 mm sizes. The early spring powered weapons then morphed into gas and battery powered ones, using a variety of systems. The hobby then migrated to North America in the mid 1990s. This is due in large part to the addition of many new AEG (Automatic Electric Gun) manufacturers in Japan, China, Taiwan, as well as many others. Though the origin of the actual game is unknown, it is easy to see that now airsoft has exploded in popularity and has had the highest rise in popularity from 2001 to present time than any other outdoor sport in the world.

Methods of play: MilSim
"MilSim", short for Military Simulation, generally combines airsoft play with some military live-action role-playing elements. This type of play may be considered "hard core" by many players because of the heightened amount of involvement required. Several goals or missions may be assigned to each team, along with a basic load-out (i.e., supply) of ammunition, rations, explosives, and radios.

A key element in MilSim games is the use of low-capacity magazines, replicating the actual magazine capactity of the 'real-steel' firearm the airsoft gun is replicating. Examples of these include the 30 round STANAG magazines of the M4, M16, Type 89, SCAR-L and several others.

Teams will remain in the field for the duration of play, only returning to a staging area or "safe zone" for medical emergencies and for other special circumstances. Military simulation games often last several days. For example, the large Berget annual event in Sweden lasts for six days with no breaks. In large scale MilSim operations, players often use vehicles such as painted vans and trucks. In some cases, such as Operation Irene (an annual MilSim held in the midwest U.S.), real APCs and tanks are used. Such large scale events can take place in MOUT (Military Operations in Urban Terrain) facilities.

True MilSim requires players to adhere to an agreed level of uniform authenticity and to play as part of a team. Open days or skirmishes where sides are nominally identified by colored armbands but where players dress in a variety of military or paramilitary impressions is not MilSim. These events are sometimes known as SISK (Skirmish In Silly Kit).

Airsoft games are not limited to MilSim or "skirmish" modes. There is great versatility and flexibility in play syles.

Honor system
Airsoft play employs an honor system whereby the players rely on each others' honesty to admit to being hit, because unlike paintballs, airsoft pellets do not leave visible marks on clothing. However, there are 6mm paintballs, but most airsofters prefer not to use them as they can ruin an airsoft gun and void most warranties.

The effect of a marking bb on the honor system is an addition to the game but does not remove "honor" from the game as it still remains with the player to choose whether or not to call his or her hits. Instead, it simply allows for verification when the need arises. For instance, depending on the muzzle velocity of the gun and distance from the shooter, the targeted player may not feel the impact.

Players are discouraged from calling out hits on an opponent - instead players are expected to signal a marshal to judge how effectively they have hit their opponent. Simulated 'knife kills' can, at the venue's discretion, be recognized when a player touches or taps an unaware opponent. This prevents the player being forced to shoot him or her at point-blank range. Similarly, a 'courtesy kill' occurs when a player refrains from shooting an opponent at close range while enforcing that opponent's surrender, instead of risking injury. Players are usually prohibited from firing blindly when not able to see their target, especially around corners. In some instances, players don't call out hits they have sustained as a result of this "blind fire". Players are expected to avoid the shooting of an opponent who has already admitted to being hit. Harsh language and forceful physical contact between players is strongly discouraged and even penalized. Players are expected to resolve disputes politely and with proper decorum.

All airsoft players are expected to acknowledge being hit, even if they are in doubt, by shouting "I'm hit" loudly, and raising their hand or gun high and/or displaying a 'hit indicator' while walking back to the safe zone. Paintball style "speedball" games may include the aforementioned hit markers. A hit indicator can be either a bright-colored cloth during daytime or a blinker or mini-flashlight when in dim light or darkness.

Teams
There are many organized teams, of varying sizes, all over the USA and in various countries. Some prominent teams have 50 or more players, and are able to send delegations to regional or national events. In the Philippines, there are many amorphous groups of airsoft players loosely organized into "teams" of varying sizes. There have been attempts to create large nationwide organizations of airsofters but these have neither succeeded nor persisted in the past, although regional organizations have been able to sustain a significant membership.

Ballistics and speed
Kinetic energy is the energy that is transferred from the pellet to its target upon impact. One joule of energy will be transferred by a 0.20 g BB at 100 metres per second (330 ft/s).[4] A typical set of limits on guns might be 100 m/s (330 ft/s) for CQB, 125 m/s (410 ft/s) for outdoors, and 175 m/s (570 ft/s) for bolt action sniper rifles, all measured with a 0.20 g BB. The amount of kinetic energy depends on the weight of the BB and how fast the gun can propel it. Certain places play "no velocity limit" games.

In the United Kingdom and Ireland, the energy limit for Airsoft guns is usually one joule (100 m/s with a 0.20 g, 6 mm BB) regardless of the type of game play. Though semi automatic weapons only are allowed up to 400fps and single action are allowed up to 500.

Most Airsoft guns are capable of shooting from 50 m/s (160 ft/s) to 125 m/s (410 ft/s), though it is also possible to purchase upgraded internals for some Airsoft guns that will enable up to 180 m/s (590 ft/s) projectile velocities.

A hop-up unit, if present, puts backspin on the BB, generating lift and giving it a greater effective range. The range of any Airsoft gun depends on both the muzzle velocity and the amount of hop applied. Airsoft guns can have a range of 75 metres (250 ft) or more with the right combination of power, barrel, and ammunition as well as a good hop-up unit. A good hop-up unit can sometimes double the range.

The longest recorded hit on a man sized target with an Airsoft gun was 400 feet (120 m) from a bolt action sniper rifle shooting 7.5 joules. The gun was shooting at a velocity of 637 feet per second (194 m/s) with a .4 g BB, equivelent to 901 feet per second (275 m/s) with a .2 g BB.

Safety: Eye and face protection
The minimum safe level of gear required to participate in most games includes a pair of impact-rated goggles or shooting glasses to protect participants' eyes. Traditional prescription glasses and sunglasses, or goggles not designed specifically for use with airsoft or paintball guns may break or shatter upon being struck, causing damage to the eye.

Many airsoft groups and fields require that eye protection fully seals the area around the eyes, and also meets or exceeds ANSI's Z87.1-2003 goggle standard for eye protection, namely, the ability to absorb 3 joules of impact energy without damage. Some players instead opt for paintball goggles, which are held to a higher impact rating standard, ASTM's F1776.

The best overall protection is offered by paintball masks. These masks protect the face, teeth, and ears. Some airsoft masks are made with mesh screens, though there is debate that fragments from lower quality or bio-degradeable BBs may pass through the mesh and enter the eye, although there have been no recorded incidents of such an occurrence.[8] While masks offer superior protection, they can interfere with the use of scopes and in cheaper masks, condensation inside the goggles can reduce visibility.

Safety: Unprotected players or bystanders
At most airsoft sites, any player or observer is required to keep their face mask, goggles, or shooting glasses on at all times. All players must immediately stop shooting when a person without eye protection is encountered in the playing area. One common practice is for players to shout words such as "Cease-fire, Blind Man!" Any player hearing the words must stop and repeat the alarm, alerting the whole game. If a player is hit and is wearing their death rag so that they can go to the respawn point and spawn, he will often say "Dead man walking!". This indicates to the opposing team that the person is not a threat.

Safety: Community safety precautions
Some other rules such as a maximum BB velocity and distance guidelines are used by different groups. Some organizations have created common safety rules and guidelines.When not actively playing, some fields require "barrel bags," also known as barrel stoppers, which were first introduced in paintball. The magazine is usually removed as well, and the gun fired to clear the chamber. Most fields also require players to leave their guns set to the safety position when they are not shooting, a practice common when using real firearms. In certain countries, such as the Philippines, additional special rules have been adopted.

All "real steel" firearms, explosives, and bladed weapons are banned at any airsoft battlefield to prevent harmful accidents or confusion between real and simulated weapons. Players are expected to be discreet in transporting their gear and uniforms so as not to alarm the public or police. Pyrotechnic devices may be allowed, but are rarely employed, because of the added danger. When they are allowed there are usually legal limits on the effect of the device, e.g. amount of smoke, volume of sound or brightness of flash.

Legal issues
Airsoft guns and playing airsoft is legal in most parts of the world. Some countries have specific restrictions such as maximum muzzle velocity, aka FPS (feet per second), rules against using the trademarks of real firearms, and 'unrealistic' coloring to distinguish them from actual firearms. They are legal throughout the U.S, but restrictions exist in certain cities such as Camden, Newark, NJ, Chicago, IL, New York City and Detroit, MI. The states of New Jersey,

New York and Michigan, however, do not allow airsoft guns to be used and handled publicly, because of the resemblance to real firearms, although Federal and State laws generally regard airsoft guns as toys and in the United States the muzzle tip must be orange.

In the United Kingdom, airsoft replicas are classified as realistic imitation firearms or RIFs. The sale, manufacture or importation of RIFs are restricted to activities that are exempted or have been granted a defense by the Home Office under the Violent Criminal Reduction Act. Airsoft has been granted a defense and a skirmisher as defined under British law is allowed to purchase, manufacture or import airsoft replicas. Usually, the only accepted method of proving entitlement is to be a member of a site that holds public liability insurance. A scheme set up by UK retailers, called UKARA, recommends that an airsoft site only give membership to a player who has played at least three games over a period of no less than two months but you can also get a reenactors membership meaning you never actually have to play airsoft.[citation needed] The right to own a RIF is still reserved to over 18's. Many retailers will only sell airsoft replicas to UKARA registered players. Also, the use or possession of any kind of replica weapon, loaded or otherwise in a public place is an offense under UK law and can carry heavy penalties.

Some airsoft players inform local police where and when airsoft games will take place, so that misunderstandings can be avoided.

Due to a steady entry of lower-cost airsoft guns from abroad, the Philippine National Police issued in December 2007 its Circular 11 (Airsoft Implementing Rules and Regulations),[14] regulating the ownership of airsoft guns by Filipino citizens. Only airsoft guns with a muzzle velocity of 550 feet (170 m) per second (ft/s) or less using 0.2-g BBs can be registered. The PNP AIRR also regulates the operation of airsoft playing fields, teams, and the standardized rules and codes of conduct among airsoft players.

Airsoft guns
The guns used in airsoft are typically replicas of real firearms, except that they have a mechanism for pushing out projectiles 6 mm or 8 mm in diameter.

Airsoft guns are classified according to their operating principle which can be either: spring, electric, or gas-powered. An airsoft gun is selected according to the level of performance (battery life, range, rate of fire, accuracy, reliability, customization, magazine capacity, size, and weight) or realism the player requires. Early-generation airsoft guns were mostly "springers." Single action airsoft guns fire only a single bb before having to be re-cocked for the next shot. Second-generation airsoft guns had gas-powered mechanisms that required either an internal "Flon" (CFC) gas reservoir or an external high-pressure CO2 chamber. AEGs (automatic electric guns, such as assault rifles) are now the most commonly used and have high-capacity rechargeable batteries to operate gearboxes that displace air to propel the BBs.

Most airsoft pistols which are gas-powered use environmentally safe "green gas". Green gas is propane gas with a hint of perfume and sometimes silicon lubricant and produces a realistic blowback recoil effect when fired. Recently Airsoft manufacturers have begun producing propane adapters that screw directly onto camping grade propane tanks, allowing players to power their gas guns on pure propane, as a cheaper alternative to "green gas". Each pistol magazine contains a small storage gas cylinder with enough power to propel the 30+ BB projectiles also housed in the magazine. Thus a player can realistically load, fire, and unload an airsoft pistol with similar realism as a "real steel" semi-automatic pistol. A few early-production AEPs (Airsoft Electric Pistols) have been released but these suffer from weaker BB velocities because of the difficulty of fitting a small-enough motor in the housing of a pistol, although the range is sometimes greater than a gas pistol. AEP's often have a higher rate of fire than their gas counterparts.

Most early airsoft guns were completely made of ABS plastic except for some internal moving parts. Newer guns, especially those made in Japan, have metal external parts. A typical airsoft gun is noticeably lighter than its "real steel" counterpart due to the use of aluminium, alloy, and plastic, though some have weights in them for a more realistic feel. There are smoke caps available for certain airsoft guns for added realism.

Gas hand gun magazines are usually 10-20 in a standard capacity magazine, however some are hi cap magazines which have a winder and can hold 50 rounds or more. In the case of AEG rifles magazines come in either standard (equivalent to the capacity of its real steel counterpart), low-capacity (low caps: 30-80 BBs), mid-capacity (mid caps: 80-150 BBs), or high-capacity (high caps: 200-500+ BBs). These magazines are spring loaded; the high-cap magazines often have a ratchet wheel that can be wound up periodically to force BBs up from the holding chamber of the magazine to the feed chute, due to loose BBs in the reservoir they often make a rattling noise when running or walking. Some airsoft guns have electric-powered box or drum magazines that hold thousands of BBs (up to 5000).

Clothing
Some players, especially those participating in MilSims, wear military clothing consisting of various forms of camouflage. Some players will go as far as to use a ghillie suit, which breaks up the human outline by having sticks, leaves, and similar items in the fabric/netting, as well as its own camouflage leafing material all over it. Aside from the advantage of camouflage, some participants aim to faithfully replicate a specific combat unit such as the SAS, Spetsnaz, or police, particularly in games such as MilSim.

In some countries, such as the Philippines, airsofters are not legally able to wear official uniforms. In Sweden, for example, it is illegal to wear both rank insignia and Swedish flags on civilian uniforms at the same time. It has become popular among civilians and airsoft players to wear only the upper garment or the pants, but not both.

When not wearing full paintball-type face masks, many players wear neck armor such as a balaclava, scarves and Shemaghs, and military-style helmets. Players generally wear combat or hiking boots (not just ordinary athletic shoes) for safety in harsh terrain. They also wear padded gloves, elbow pads, knee pads (not to protect the body from pain of getting hit by pellets, but to prevent pain and injury from performing physical actions, such as crawling and kneeling) and protective vests for additional protection, realism, and for conventional reasons such as holding magazines of ammo.

In some cases, rules are adopted that allow only casual clothes in an effort to encourage realism because players will more actively avoid being hit.

Tactical gear
Players wear tactical clothing and accessories for the added realism and for the practical needs similar to that of a real soldier. The most common are holsters, load bearing vests, and modular rigs. Many players also use a hydration system. Equipment for real world soldiers is also often used in airsoft games, such as are sights, red-dot scopes, flashlights, picatinny rails, and mock silencers.

Many Mil-Sim players choose to wear real gear (not an airsoft replica) and in some cases, real ballistic protective armor - this can raise the price of the game considerably.

Game variants
Elimination — Generally the most common variant of airsoft played, and again mostly among new-comers to the sport. Elimination rules can be played by two or more teams. Essentially, teams engaging in combat until there is only one team left still in play, or as in FFA (Free For All), one player left.

Surrender - Same as elimination, but when a player is hit he/she is not out, instead they are out when they surrender. Most of the time airsoft fields do not allow this, so this is not a game played by veterans, most of the time. This can applyed to almost any game type.

Capture the Flag (CTF) — While the primary objective in Elimination is to eliminate as many enemy players as possible, the primary objective in Capture the Flag (sometimes abbreviated to CTF) is to capture the enemy flag instead. This is a very popular game type, second only to Elimination itself..Often in CTF, there are two flags - one for each team. Each flag would ideally be situated in a base, bunker or some other such defendable position, which is then called the 'flag station'. The enemy team must find the opposition's flag station, seize the flag, and return it to their own flag station. Once the enemy flag is in one's own flag station and one's own flag is still there, then victory may be claimed. A one-flag variant has one flag situated in a mutually agreed upon position, and each team attempts to bring it back to their base, or the opponent's base.

Assault, or Siege — Assault is a fairly common game variant where the players are divided into two equal teams. One team — the 'defenders' — must hold a fixed location on the field. The other team — the 'attackers' — must attempt to completely eliminate the defenders, while the defenders must elininate the attackers.

Protect the President - Protect the President is a completely unique form of airsoft. Although not very popular due to being a mostly unknown form of playing, it gives each game a prominent objective; making the game extremely fun. The objective of the game is to protect the president (hence the title). At least two teams are formed. Each team chooses a President. From this point on, each team may devise their own strategy, but the objective is always constant. Kill the enemy president while being sure to protect your own. If the president on either team is eliminated, the game is over. Another form of Protect the President is to divide into two teams, a Secret Service and Terrorist Factions. The Secret Service team has an unarmed president or lightly armed, and the terrorist's job is to kill that one person. The Secret Service is to either eliminate the Terrorists or move to a certain safe-zone or Landing Zone on the map.

The Infected- There are two teams, Humans and infected. Anyone the infected eliminates become infected, while if the infected is eliminated, he is out for the round. Game ends when either team is completely eliminated

Commando Raid- There are two teams: Commandos and Rebels. The Commandos must bring three or more items back to the extraction zone, while the rebels must stop them. Anyone who is hit is down for the game. The commandos must have half of their guns ammo capacity and a spring pistol, while the Rebels can use as much ammo as they want.

Forts- There are two teams and six or more small forts scatterd in the field. the goal is for each team to capture all the forts. if someone is hit, they go to their respawn point well away from the forts. The first team to capture all the forts or has the most forts after 20 minutes, that team wins.

Enemy Territory- This is best played on a huge field. there are two teams, each team with their own commander in their teams base. The goal for each team is to place three of their flags in the enemy's post about 20 feet from the enemy base and then eliminate the enemy commander. The commander can only be armed with a spring or gas pistol. Two people can stay with the commander, but can only use shotguns. There is also a medic or two with the infantry to bring them back into play. Once the medic is out, than players are out for the round if they get shot. When infantry players on one team eliminates the enemy infantry, then the commanders guards must attempt to finish the job. If all guards are eliminated then it's sudden death. This is when both commanders engage each other untill one of them is out. then the other commander must place his team flag in the enemy base. The game ends when one team eliminates the enemy commander and takes the base. The commander may use a walkie to notify the infantry on his team if he and his guards are under fire.

Tag Out- This can be played on almost any terrain. It is most commonly played in the sense that, if you get hit you stand still for however many seconds was agreed on. while you are still, if you are tagged by anyone else your are out for the game. if nobody tags you, you can resume fire after your time of stillness is up.
